| "Don't just own it but also learn it". With today's advancements and adaptations to various world views I think it is important to understand that people cannot just be influenced by their own culture alone. Keeping or owning one's culture with exposure to another culture is what we need to today. And this is possible when people understand that learning from other cultures could also help them in improving their lifestyle or adding new elements to their own cultural perspectives. It would be interesting to see how other cultural values can influence one's own culture.

| My metaphor for culture would probably be a tree with many branches that reach to the sky and many roots which are anchored in the ground. Firstly- culture is alive is changing, is interacting with the enviroment and influenced by it. It has many dimensions (branches and roots). The branches are superficial dimensions of the culture that are visible e.g. language, food, music, dances... and the roots are cultural dimensions that you can not see e.g. values, believes, religion. |

| I feel like the sentence, ´Don´t say it´s a mistake before you make a mistake¨ captures the essence of what people should do more. It is easy to make assumptions about cultures, people and things before ever seeing it in person because of the social media. You can find out so much more than a video or an article can provide you about places and people. Cultures are a beautiful things and everybody should make their own opinions on them without being scared to try out because they think it´s a mistake before they even make one. There are more than meets the eye.

| In this case, I'm thinking more about a phrase that seems brilliant to me: "You can't say it's wrong just because you don't understand." I have known and know a lot of people to whom this phrase fits, and I am not only referring to the fact that some do not understand a culture, some do not even want to understand it. Simply put, they still have big walls around them and they don't want to tear them down just because they don't want to leave the control zone.

| "The culture is an iceberg, there is always more than meets the eye". To better understand a culture you need to forget the stereotypes and assumptions, because it is the people that makes the culture. For this you need to take a deeper dive to see the bottom of the iceberg. We make our own conclusions from influence of our surrounding environment and that can be misleading sometimes. People should not rush to conclusions on cultures that they are yet to understand, because that misinformation can turn away a lot of opportunities. We see this phenomena everywhere in the world where people are afraid of something they don't understand or they are afraid of change. A good example of this could be the walls that we build between different cultures by distancing ourselves from them. People talk about different cultural neighbourhoods and make assumptions based out of others opinions (media).

|
| There is a Russian fairy tale called "tzvetik semitzvetic". It means "a little flower of 7 colors" and I wish I could find this story in English to share with you. It teaches kids to be, first of all, kind. I choose this metaphore to define culture, because even though all the petals are the same, they are unique by their color, and together they form an amazing flower. It is the same for me about the culture. We all are people, we form the Globe, we seem the same, but we are so different and colorful thanks to our cultural backgrounds.

| My metapor for culture is that it is a code to crack. Together, lines of code form a well-functioning program, but by looking at it in detail, analyzing every little thing, you will notice that different instructions, variables and numbers, each slightly different, form it. And you can only manage diversity and work in multicultural teams - write the code- by understanding and writting it piece by piece - by giving value and understanding one`s culture and particularities.

| I think the salad bowl describes culture the best way possible. You can put there whatever and everything fit together if the salad sauce is tasty. In other words, no matter what type of cultural mixes, they all get along as long as there is a mutual respect and acceptance.

| Isn't exactly a metaphor or an expression, but it is a thought I had this summer in Switzerland when it started to rain: very random, I had a very basic existential revelation that people from all over the Globe, no matter how different they are, are feeling the rain sometimes. And I trully believe this is the essence of Erasmus projects, of travelling, of intercultural experiences: to reconect to what we have all have in common as human beings: the sun, the earth, the rain, the life itself.

This metaphore means that each culture has a code of conduct which one has to crack. And by this they mean that one needs to understand or know the norms and traditons of a particuler culture in oder to understand the peoples way of life or why the behave a certain way. |

| ''Talk the talk or Walk the walk as one cannot judge a book that is NOT covered''. Culture is a truly vast concept understood in many different ways by different minds but overal always leads to one understanding. I would use this metaphore, in order to show that not only does one have to adjust to different cultures by either learning the language in order to understand the confidence that comes with being in or exposed to the specific culture, but also understanding that 'walking the walk' is important as one would live amongst the culture and immerse themselves accordingly. Thus overall it can be said that culture is not only to be seen but its is meant to be experienced even in the smallest of ways, for example wanting to pronounce words in a language correctly and so forth. So, all in all culture is a clustur of differences and certain alignments that each member in society is exposed to and living through as one can not judge a book that is NOT covered.

| "The culture is a Jigsaw puzzle that I haven’t solved yet." To say a culture is a jigsaw puzzle is to say that you’re having trouble understanding it. Just like how you can find it hard to fit all the pieces together in a jigsaw, you might also find it hard to understand a culture when you arrive in it. It will take you time to figure out the ‘Cultural Jigsaw’, but once you have figured it out, you will feel you have accomplished something.

I think that everything that surrounds us is it's like an invisible code. We all know that there are rules, some of them are written on the paper with black ink, but some of them are just written with invisible ink and somehow we respect those rules and also knowing there are things we need to know, sometimes it takes as a lifetime to figure them out.

| "Culture is like a garden"
I'd like to see all cultures in the world as a huge, diverse and beautiful garden. You can see the branches of the trees and the buds of the flowers, but you cannot see the roots, deep under the earth, the reason for the stability of the plant and the fundament to grow its beautiful leaves or flowers in the springtime. It is the same with culture, where you can see the behaviours and practises on the outside, but the cultural norms and values, which are the foundation for the outer perception, are hidden inside, deeply rooted in the past and tradition of culture.
A garden is not static, but constantly growing and changing as the biological conditions such as minerals, the amount of rainfall and the hours of sunshine are also changing over time, varying over the years. Therefore, the trees and flowers need to adapt to changes so the ecological balance can be restored. A culture is likewise dynamic and changing over time, and needs to be nourished in order to grow and sustain. In a garden, there are millions of different plants, which are sometimes completly different, but still bringing mutual benefits, for example thinking of their different needs of minerals or even symbiosis. Cultures can also be quite similiar or very different, but still bringing out the best in each other, if people learn how to properly manage intercultural environments and profit from mutual benefits.

| "Culture is a symphony." This metaphor conveys the complexity of culture by likening it to a musical symphony. It highlights how culture, like a symphony, involves diversity, harmony, collaboration, emotional impact, guidance, adaptation, unity in diversity, and aesthetic value. The metaphor underscores the idea that culture is a harmonious and dynamic blend of diverse elements that unites people and enriches human experiences.

| "Culture is a football team" This phrase means that culture is developed and experienced as a team. The culture of a country has its ideas, traditions, values, its way of living... and a team also has its ideas of how to play, the traditions off and on the field, the values they offer and their way of playing football.
