​Iasi is known for its cultural scene, as it's home to concert halls and theatres such as the Moldova State Philharmonic, which was built in 1815. The 19th century Iasi National Theatre is Romania's oldest.

Iasi is also home of 5 state-funded university which makes this city one of the most important bustling academic envinments of Romania (Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi, Grigore T.
